Beautification
Launched by FWADG in 2011, Spare pARTS is a public art program celebrating creativity through repurposed materials and vibrant street life along Fort Worth Avenue. Each year, FWADG issued an open call for submissions, with a jury selecting a local artist to create a commissioned piece for installation in a public space along the corridor.
Â
Many of these works remain on display today—enduring well beyond their expected lifespan in the Dallas climate. FWADG continues to champion these efforts, enhancing the corridor’s beauty and inviting businesses, residents, and visitors to enjoy its evolving public spaces.

Murals
The Fort Worth Avenue/I‑30 overpass serves as a critical connection between West Dallas and Oak Cliff, yet it has long been a target for vandalism and graffiti. FWADG has seen that when local artists create murals in vulnerable areas, the artwork not only beautifies the space but also significantly reduces tagging—perpetrators are far less likely to deface community‑created art.
Â
FWADG is developing plans for a series of murals on the fencing and safety walls on both sides of the overpass, transforming this gateway into a more welcoming and visually engaging transition between the two communities. While the project is still in the planning and budgeting phase, it will require substantial funding, and we welcome donations to help bring this vision to life.
